Although India had a forgettable outing in the 2024-25 Border–Gavaskar Trophy down under, there were some moments that put a smile on the face of Indian fans during the five-match Test series. One of those moments included the famous hundred by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was on his maiden Australia tour. During the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Nitish Kumar scored his maiden ton when rest of the Indian batters failed to play a big knock.

Recently, Nitish Kumar Reddy revealed that he was wearing Virat Kohli’s shoes while hitting his maiden Test hundred. “If you saw my 100, it weren’t my shoes. Back in the locker room, he (Kohli) once asked Sarfaraz, ‘Sarfu, what’s your shoe size?’, and he said, ‘9’. Then he turned to me, and I thought, ‘Oh my god, I have to guess this correctly’ because even if they weren’t my size, I really wanted his shoes. I said, ’10’, and he gave them to me. In the next match, I wore those shoes and scored a hundred,” Reddy said in a podcast on PUMA's Youtube channel.

Everyone congratulated me, but I was looking for one guy: Nitish Kumar Reddy on conversation with Virat Kohli after hitting 100

Speaking further, Nitish Kumar Reddy also revealed how he kept looking for Virat Kohli despite every member of the Indian team coming to congratulate him for his hundred. Reddy also said how he was looking for his father in the stands and finally found him teary-eyed on the big screen

“Everyone in the dressing room came up and congratulated me, but I was just looking for one guy—hoping he'd come and talk to me.When Virat bhai (Kohli) finally walked up and told me I had played a wonderful game, that moment itself was special for me. I was also scanning the stands for my father but couldn't find him. Later, I saw on the screen that he was crying,” Reddy said.
