Pakistan is hosting West Indies in a two-match Test series at their home. While the Shan Masood-led side won the opening Test by 127 runs, the second kickstarted this morning, on Saturday, January 25 with the visitors winning the toss and opting to bat first. However, the Kraigg Brathwaite-led side did not have a start which was expected as the top order failed to get runs on the board.

Even the middle order could not get going as the Windies were seen reeling at 95/9 in 27.4 overs. For Pakistan, Noman Ali starred with his five-wicket haul, also picking a hat-trick. The Pakistan spin sensation scripted history in Multan, becoming the first Pakistan spinner to take a hat-trick in Test cricket.

Noman Ali dismisses Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach and Kevin Sinclair to complete hat-trick

The 38-year-old ran through the West Indies batting unit on the opening day of the second Test as he had figures of four for six after his maiden hat-trick. Ali firstly got the big wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite in his second over. He then dismissed Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach and Kevin Sinclair to complete his hat-trick in the 12th over.

Notably, this feat occurred for the first time in 26 years after Wasim Akram became the Pakistan fast bowler to take a hat-trick in Tests. Moreover, Noman Ali became the only fifth Pakistan bowler to complete a hat-trick in the longest format of the game. Before the 38-year-old, Naseem Shah has taken a hat-trick in 2020 in a Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
