The World No. 2 Novak Djokovic beat his Russian counterpart to lift his 24th Grand Slam title and fourth US Open title. The Serbian with a dominating performance all through the tournament, took down Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (7/5), 6-3 to also become the oldest ever men’s champion in New York in the Open Era.
The 36-year-old soon after claiming the match point against World No. 3, Daniil Medvedev ran towards his box at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to hug his daughter Tara, who was in attendance. This adorable moment between the father-daughter duo is now doing rounds on the internet.
However, it was not only his daughter in the stands, but Novak Djokovic also equally celebrated this moment with the other members of his family, including his parents, wife Jelena and son Stefan who were spotted in the player’s box.
With his 24th singles Grand Slam title, the great of the game also levelled with Margaret Court’s all-time mark for most Grand Slam titles won in tennis history. The record and feats do not end here for the Serbian, as the 36-year-old also became the first male player to win three majors in a single calendar year four times in his career, being denied one by Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon 2023. The soon to be World No. 1, beat the third seeded in a match which went neck-and-neck for three hours and 16 minutes to etch history.
