22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal on Monday, April 29 cruised past Argentina’s Pedro Cachin at the Madrid Open 2024. The Spaniard beat his Argentinian opponent by 6-1, 6-7 (5/7), 6-3 in a three-hour long tussle. However, Pedro could not walk out victorious over Nadal, but definitely cherished the moment.
After his Round of 32 loss against Nadal, the Argentinian asked the Spaniard for a shirt as a memorable souvenir as the duo walked upto the net for a customary handshake. "I don’t know if this is protocol or not, but I wanted to ask you, could I keep your shirt or a towel or something?” Pedro asked Rafael.
Soon after this, the 37-year-old agreed to it and walked upto his arena to get a fresh shirt for the World No. 91 and hand it over to him. “Yes, of course! I’ll give you one now. Good luck with everything,” Nadal said. After handing it over to Pedro, the 29-year-old replied, “Thank you very much! You’ve made my dream come true, thank you.”
