The opening game for the 16th season of IPL between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings has got off to a brilliant start thanks to CSK's Ruturaj Gaikwad. But the IPL opener suffered a strange halt in the sixth over of the game. As Gaikwad drove Pandya for an incredible lofted shot, the ball went high into the sky.

But as the ball dropped over the boundary, the umpires were concerned whether it touched the spider-cam cables on the way. Hence, the call went to the third umpire. If the ball was in contact with a wire, it would have been a dead ball. As the decision was hard to figure out from the replays, the official took some extended time but eventually declared it was a six.

After this six, Ruturaj Gaikwad continued to bat at an incredible rate and ended up scoring a 92 in just 50 balls. On the back of this knock, CSK managed to post a massive 179-run total for the Titans.
Reacting to the first innings, Moeen Ali praised Gaikwad in his mid-innings interview but stated that the team would have been happy with a few more runs. He said, "It's a score which is great to have. Little disappointed. Should've got 15-20 more."
"Ruturaj was outstanding. It was a decent pitch once you went through your first 5-6 balls. Chennai support has always been outstanding. When I was batting, it felt like the loudest crowd I've experienced in my career."
