Multan Sultans is a professional Twenty20 cricket franchise representing Multan, Punjab, in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Established in 2017 as the league's sixth team, they clinched their first PSL title in 2021. This video was perceived by many as mocking Rohit Sharma, leading to widespread criticism from cricket fans. There has been a mix of reactions from cricketing fans from both the nations to this video posted by the Multan Sultans. While some fans are complaining about the alleged disrespect towards the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, some are appreciating the crisp use of humour by the PSL franchise’s social media team. A few fans are referring to the fact that in the 2024 PSL season, Multan Sultans reached their fourth consecutive final, but were narrowly defeated by Islamabad United by two wickets, and the audio being used as a reference to this record of the Multan Sultans missing out on the trophy by slim margins on multiple occasions.
Talking about the upcoming PSL season, the Multan Sultans have assembled a strong squad including Pakistan skipper Mohammed Rizwan, Ifthikar Ahmed and foreign players like Michael Bracewell and Chris Jordan. The Pakistan T20 league is set to start on 11th April this year.
