After Shashank Singh scored his maiden IPL fifty against Gujarat Titans, the Punjab Kings players and staff seemingly forgot to applaud him from the dugout at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Aakash Chopra, who was commentating on the match for JioCinema in Hindi, alluded to the lack of appreciation for Shashank Singh’s innings from the team dugout before he took Punjab Kings over the finishing line against Gujarat Titans, winning the match by three wickets.
In pursuit of the 200-run target, Punjab Kings were behind the eight ball for most of the innings, losing key wickets at regular intervals. Shashank Singh, who walked out to bat at number six, kept PBKS in the contest with his scintillating innings, superbly timing the ball right throughout.
During the 16th over, when Punjab Kings lost the wicket of Jitesh Sharma, they needed 50 more runs in just 27 balls to secure a famous win. The impact substitute Ashutosh Sharma, who replaced Arshdeep Singh in the batting order, took over the PBKS innings while his partner closed in on a fifty.
Just two over later, when Shashank Singh completed his maiden IPL fifty, the Punjab Kings dugout wasn’t probably quite attuned to what had happened on the field, seemingly not applauding his significant milestone.
