The Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are locking horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in match 28 of the IPL 2024. Both the teams are coming into this fixture on the back of a loss in their respective last matches. While the LSG lost to Delhi Capitals by six wickets, the KKR lost to the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets.

Earlier in the match, it was the home captain Shreyas Iyer, who won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. With Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul taking the guards in the middle, the Protean wicketkeeper-batter had to return early with Sunil Narine completing a catch off Vaibhav Arora’s delivery. Moreover, the Lucknow-based side were handed their second blow in the fifth over with Ramandeep Singh completing an airborne catch.

Deepak Hooda, who walked in after Quinton de Kock’s wicket, departed after scoring eight runs. On the fourth delivery of the fifth over, which was being bowled by Mitchell Starc, the Indian batter slashed it over drive. Ramandeep, who was stationed at the backward point, dived full length and grabbed a stunner with both hands, video of which is now going viral. Notably, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan also lauded this effort as he was seen applauding the team's effort.
