In the closing moments of WWE Smackdown, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns looked poised to spear Randy Orton, but Viper bit back with an RKO out of nowhere. The frenetic ending to the show happened after Roman Reigns signed the contract to make the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship fatal four-way match official at the Royal Rumble.

At the beginning of the WWE Smackdown, emanating from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, General Manager Nick Aldis presided over the contract signing to make the fatal four-way match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match official at the Royal Rumble. The three challengers AJ Styles, LA Knight, and Randy Orton put pen to paper one after another, but the champion Roman Reigns didn’t make his way to the ring, but sent Paul Heyman, the Wise Man instead.

After a back-and-forth between Nick Aldis and Paul Heyman, LA Knight, and AJ Styles, who were slated to compete on Smackdown later, made their plans clear about how they plan to win the championship before Randy Orton got into the face of the Wise Man. He told Paul Heyman about dropping Solo Sikoa in a one-on-one contest later in the night, which will lead him to re-introducing the RKO to Roman Reigns.

Solo Sikoa interfered in the AJ Styles versus LA Knight contest, hitting a Samoan Spike on both the competitors. Shortly after Randy Orton defeated Solo Sikoa with an RKO, it led to Roman Reigns dropping him down with a Superman punch.
