Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay defeated Brazil 4-2 on penalties in the quarter-final at the Copa America 2024 on Saturday night. After playing 120 minutes without a goal, the match was forced to penalties where Brazil missed two penalties. During the match, Brazil forward Raphinha showed his priority and shoved his Barcelona teammate Ronald Araujo to defend his national teammate Endrick.
In the 17th minute of the match, the Uruguayan center-back appeared to shoulder-push the 17-year-old Brazilian from the back while the Brazilian side were interacting with the referee. Endrick, who will be seen in the Real Madrid colours from the 2024-25 season, went down on the ground after Araujo's push.
Raphinha rushed out of nowhere and shoved the Uruguayan despite both playing at Barcelona. The 27-year-old forward prioritised his national teammate and defended him against his Barcelona teammate. However, both players avoided getting booked for their actions.

In the 30th minute, Araujo picked up a muscle injury and had to be substituted. He was replaced by Atletico de Madrid's José María Giménez.

After the match, Uruguayan coach Marcelo Bielsa approached Raphinha, who played under his coaching at Leeds United and consoled the Brazilian by hugging him. The heartwarming act from Bielsa won hearts as he avoided celebration to console his former player.
