The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 ended with the hosts clinching it for the fourth time in a row. After winning the opening two Tests, the hosts lost the third by nine wickets. But the two sides ended the series with the fourth Test ending in a draw. While Virat Kohli won the Player of the Match, Indian all-rounders R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bagged the Player of the Series award.

After sharing the award, the Indian duo recreated Akshay Kumar’s scene from the Bollywood movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’. The scene was recreated in the Indian dressing room with Ravindra Jadeja playing Akshay Kumar’s role. The video is now doing rounds on social media with Ashwin’s IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals also resharing it.

Going back to the series and their performances, both played a key role in India’s 2-1 win in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. While Ashwin finished as the highest wicket-taker with 25 scalps, Jadeja stood second with 22 wickets to his name.
During the post-match presentation, the two all-rounders also spoke of each-other’s contribution. “It feels good bowling with him. He (Ashwin) is passing information. What field to have, how to bowl to a particular batsman,” Jadeja said. Ashwin also hailed Jadeja for his contribution and the bond that the two share. “It has been a great journey. We started a long time ago but we wouldn’t be the same or lethal enough without each other. He gives me a lot of freedom to be creative with the ball, credit to him,” he said.
