The Europa League fixture between Manchester United and Real Betis did not end the way expected and it usually does. Although the United won the match 4-1 against Real Betis at Old Trafford on March 10 (Friday), the away fans did not have the best outing.

Following the 1-4 loss against United, the Real Betis fans got into an ugly brawl with the police present inside the stadium. The scuffles broke out when the two club fans were seen cheering for their sides in the dying minutes of the fixture. A section of fans appeared  to break into the stadium stand by climbing over the barrier. The police had to intervene to separate the two sides with  only five minutes remaining.

Four of the Real Betis fans were later taken into police custody at Old Trafford for their disorderly behaviour, local police  had informed later. “Four Real Betis supporters were arrested for violent disorder, assault, possession of flares inside the stadium and possession of controlled drug,” Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.

Notably, the two sides will now lock horns in a return fixture on March 16 (Thursday) in the second leg of Round of 16.
