If Real Madrid fans were already excited about their club’s signing of the Turkish wonder kid, then this new video from training is sure to send them over the moon. The up-and-coming midfielder nutmegged an established star in Federico Valverde, and he makes it look so easy.
Many clubs have been in for Arda Güler since at least January of this year, including Aston Villa and Barcelona. In fact, for a while, it looked like the wonder kid was headed to Barcelona. However it was a call from the world’s biggest club that turned his head, and the voice on the other line was none other than that of Ballon d’Or winning midfielder Luka Modric.

Güler plays a quick one-two and finds himself receiving a pass with his back to the goal and being pressed by Valverde. Thinking quickly, the 18-year-old feints forward before playing the ball back, through Valverde’s legs, and turning sharply, finding himself in open space and scoring. The outrageous show of skill was quickly shared over social media and has Madrid fans more excited than ever to see their new signing in action.
Güler is key piece to re-inventing Real Madrid’s midfield
The nimble up-and-coming player is considered one of European football’s young jewels and is widely considered to have a very high football intelligence, tactical awareness, and technical quality. He was already a key figure for Fenherbace’s midfield and dictated the tempo with flair and confidence that is rare for a player of his young age.
The Real Madrid stalwart has won numerous Champions League titles and finished runners-up at the 2018 World Cup. Regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, Modric convinced young Arda by telling him about the Real Madrid project and convincing the young player that he was destined to replace Modric in the starting lineup when he leaves Madrid.
Madrid are one of the most exciting projects in European football right now, as they seek to replace their veteran midfield of all-time greats Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro with younger superstars who will carry the torch of the most successful side in European Cup history going forward. Aside from Güler, Los Blancos have signed box-to-box midfielder Jude Bellingham, and holding midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga. The royal club of Madrid will hope this young core will continue the legacy the old midfield generation created.
