The former Australian cricketer and the Head Coach of Delhi Capitals (DC) Ricky Ponting made a big revelation around the “spring bat” from Australia’s 2003 World Cup win. Speaking with an influencer in the DC camp during the ongoing IPL 2024, Ponting was asked about spring bat, after accusations surfaced.

Recalling his inning of unbeaten 140 runs against India, Ponting smashed eight sixes to help his side post 359/2. However, recalling his exploits from the 2003 World Cup, in a video shared by Delhi Capitals’ social media handles, an influencer playfully teased Ponting to reveal details about his spring bat. The DC head coach was quick to reveal that he did not use any spring in the final and denied of never hearing this earlier.

“Spring bat? I have never even heard of a spring bat. What is a spring bat? Is it in the handle, is it inside the face of the bat? I have never heard of it. Obviously have been spoken about a lot in India, not in Australia. There is no such thing as a spring bat,” the former Aussie skipper rest his case.

It is to be noted that the former Australia captain is still being asked of the bat after over 20 years. In 2020, the two-time World Cup winning captain had shared the picture of his bat used in the 2003 World Cup final, but that got the attention of the trollers. His social media handle was flooded with the comments which read, “Spring kidhar hai?”
