On Saturday, July 13, in the inaugural edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024, India Champions defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan Champions to lift the title at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Both teams had a contrasting season in the WCL 2024 with Pakistan becoming the first team to confirm their last four qualification, while India was among the last to seal the semifinals berth. However, both setup the summit clash, beating the likes of Australia and West Indies.

In the finale, which took place on July 13, Pakistan Champions won the toss and elected to bat first. On the back of Shoaib Malik’s 36-ball 41, and some crucial contributions from Kamran Akmal and Maqsood, Pakistan posted 156/6 in their allotted 20 overs. But it was Yuvraj Singh-led side which chased the total in 19.1 over to clinch the title and take revenge of the 2017 Champions Trophy.

During the match, which saw the return of the retired cricketers on the cricket field, Robin Uthappa was seen displaying the spirit of sportsmanship. During the Pakistan inning, Indian Champions wicketkeeper-batter, Robin Uthappa caught the eyeballs for his heartwarming gesture to help retired hurt Misbah-ul-Haq walk off the field.

Misbah, who was seen struggling with some hamstring injury, got offered a shoulder to move off the field from Uthappa. This act of camaraderie amidst the intense on-field rivalries between the two nations, left fans pouring their heart out, hailing the spirit of sportsmanship on the cricket field. However, the video has since then gone viral on social media.
