Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested in New York on Monday, September 11 after he was accused of assaulting and strangulating his girlfriend. Reportedly, the 23-year-old NBA star allegedly attacked his girlfriend and former WNBA player, Kysre Gondrezick inside a Manhattan hotel. A video has gone viral on social media where the police arrested KPJ and took him into custody.
The incident took place on Monday morning as the New York Post quoted police sources saying that the Rockets guard was arrested by police at around 6:30 a.m. Police apprehended the NBA player following a 911 call for an assault at the four-star Millennium Hilton New York Hotel at 1 UN Plaza in Midtown.
Since then, a video has been doing rounds on social media where KPJ was spotted taken into custody on preliminary charges of second-degree assault and strangulation, NYPD said. On the other hand, the woman was reportedly taken to the hospital.

A spokesperson was quoted by ABC News, "Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain to her neck. A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck."
Kevin signed a four-year contract extension reportedly worth $82.5 million last season with the Rockets. However, considering Kevin’s off-court issues in the past, he is guaranteed only the $15.9 million salary for this season. "We are in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr. We have no further comment at this time," the Rockets said in a statement.
