Indian ODI World Cup 2023 captain Rohit Sharma made his first public appearance after being replaced by Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the captain of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. Sharma was spotted at the Mumbai International Airport on December 15 as he left for South Africa ahead of the Test series.

The decision came as a surprise with Sharma being one of the most successful captains in IPL history. But ever since, Pandya returned to the Mumbai Indians on a historic trade from Gujarat Titans, speculation about the all-rounder taking up captaincy surface. But earlier today, the Mumbai Indians released a statement confirming Pandya's appointment.

The two-match Test series between India and South Africa kicks off on Boxing Day in Centurion. Team India, under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership, drew the T20I series 1-1 on Thursday. After the 20-over games, KL Rahul will captain India in the three-match ODI series, starting on December 17.
