During the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, the opening batter for Lahore Qalandars, Sahibzada Farhan, lost the grip of his bat completely while trying to play the inside-out drive against Mohammad Amir of Quetta Gladiators. It led to the ball flying over the cover fielder, while the bat flew towards the midwicket region in a hilarious PSL moment.
For the unversed, the captain of Lahore Qalandars, Shaheen Afridi, won the toss and decided to bat first at the National Stadium in Karachi. Sahibzada Farhan and Mirza Baig walked out to the middle to start the innings for their side, who are already out of the reckoning for the playoffs spot, but they have the opportunity to be the party spoilers for Quetta Gladiators.
After a steady start in the first couple of overs, Sahibzada Farhan decided to take the attack to Mohammad Amir, who was one of the premier fast bowlers for Pakistan for many years. The right-handed batter charged down the pitch on one of his deliveries, trying to get a boundary over the ring of fielders on the offside, which he successfully did, but not before his bat ended up at the midwicket region.
Shortly after, Abrar Ahmed of Quetta Gladiators picked up the wickets of both Sahibzada Farhan (25) and Mirza Baig (12) in the last over of the powerplay to reduce them to 38/2. Abdullah Shafique, in at No. 3, took charge of the situation for Lahore Qalandars and despite the wicket of Shai Hope falling for 5 off 7, took his team to 70/3 after 10 overs in their innings, with the captain Shaheen Afridi promoting himself up the batting order.
