Sh ah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar and the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner, was in the City of Joy to watch his team play an IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants. After his team achieved a resounding win, Shah Rukh Khan was spotted on camera picking up the discarded KKR flags off the floor in a sweet gesture.
At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Shreyas Iyer-led team restricted the Lucknow Super Giangts to a below-par total of 161/7 after Mitchell Starc picked up three wickets, while the spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy delivered economical spells. In the run chase, Kolkata Knight Riders lost the wickets of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi early, but then, an unbeaten 120-run partnership from Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer was enough for them to register an eight-wicket win with 26 balls to spare.
After the IPL 2024 match finished, a video went viral on the social media platform X, wherein Shah Rukh Khan, who was in the VIP section of the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, picked up the discarded KKR flags off the floor before handing them over to the people nearby. The fans were also heard screaming the name of Shah Rukh Khan on top of his lungs, with one of them asking him to wave at them.
Moments later, after cleaning up the VIP section of the stadium, Shah Rukh Khan waved at the fans and gave them a flying kiss as well.
Moreover, the win for Kolkata Knight Riders over Lucknow Super Giants helped them consolidate their second place on the IPL 2024 points table. KKR are currently behind RR in the standings, against whom they will be playing at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, April 16.
