Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan, who currently has been sidelined from the main team and has missed a place in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contract list for 2024-25, opened up on his close bond with skipper Rohit Sharma. Dhawan even went on to call Rohit as his favourite opening partner, hailing him as “a gem of a person”.
Speaking with Star Sports, Dhawan said, “I have opened with him for 8-10 years, so I have a strong bond with him. He is a gem of a person.” The Indian opener also recalled a hilarious incident when the two were batting together in one of the matches in a video on the occasion of Friendship Day.
Speaking in an interview, Dhawan recalled, “Usse bada achha lagta tha jab mai ek gana gaata tha pitch pe (he used to like it a lot whenever I sang one particular song), ‘putt jattan de bulaonde bakre.” He further added that Rohit would look at him and then sing the same song. “He remembers a couple of lines from the song, which he used to sing and then laugh,” Dhawan further reiterated.
