The Chennai Super Kings have always been a star-studded side since the inception of the Indian Premier League. In the mega auction 2022, CSK team management was terrific with their strategy to bring their core players, but also bought talented Indian players, who have done well for their respective teams in T20s.

One such talent is batting all-rounder Shivam Dube, who has also represented the Indian limited-overs team in the past. But his form was not up to the mark, and gradually lost his place. The IPL 2022 mega auction saw Chennai Super Kings recruiting him for a whopping amount of INR 4 Crores in a bidding war with Punjab Kings (PBKS).

In Match 7 of the IPL 2022 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Dube was terrific with his ball-striking capabilities to accelerate the team in the middle overs, which continued the momentum after a great start by Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali. In the 18th over of the game, Dube hit a huge six of 94 m off Dushmantha Chameera. The connection with the bat was magical and reflected the confidence and form of Dube.

However, the next ball saw Dube getting dismissed in a failed dismissal to clear the deep mid-wicket boundary. Later, the boundaries of Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni helped the CSK team to cross the strong score of 200. It also provided the bowlers with enough runs to defend on the board, and open their account in the 2022 edition of the tournament.

The Lucknow Super Giants will have a tedious task on their hand to get back to winning ways and give confidence to the whole squad. The top 3 batsmen, KL Rahul, Quinton De Kock, and Evin Lewis will be crucial for the team to set a stable platform and chase down the score. The team will be hoping to replicate the same success as of Delhi Capitals who chased down the score in the same ground.
