India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer was caught off guard in leaked footage from one of the IPL ad shoots of Star Sports. After Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant’s videos of losing their temper during ad shoots went viral on social media, another video featuring Iyer started making rounds within no time. In the video, Iyer could be seen throwing tantrums when asked to wear a dhoti for an ad shoot.
In the video, when the cricketer was asked to wear a dhoti as per the script, he could be seen losing his cool at a crew member. He said, “Kaisa dhoti hai yar yeh? Aise toh hum nahi penhenta hai.” On being told that the script demands him to do so, he said, “Poora ulta dikh raha hai yaar, phisal toh nahi jaunga.” It left Iyer frustrated and he said, “Mera sar ghum raha hai. Bas yaar mai toh thak gaya hoon yeh dhoti pehen ke.”
The leaked video went viral on social media sparking mixed reactions from fans and media alike. Talking about Iyer, the youngster, along with Ishan Kishan, is likely to face the wrath of the BCCI for missing the domestic season. As per the reports from TOI, the cricketers could lose their BCCI central contracts for missing domestic matches despite being told to do so.
The source was quoted as saying by the TOI, "The selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, has almost finalised the list of centrally contracted players for the 2023-24 season too, which the BCCI will announce soon. Kishan and Iyer are likely to be excluded from that list, as both haven't been playing domestic cricket despite the BCCI's diktat to do so.” Iyer had cited back spasms for missing the domestic matches.
