Shreyas Iyer, the Indian middle-order batter, has gone viral on social media after copies the action of Sunil Narine, his KKR teammate, during the Buchi Babu invitational tournament. The moment happened when Shreyas Iyer was playing for Mumbai against TNCA XI at the Sri Ramakrishna College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore.
Notably, in the last couple of months since Gautam Gambhir has joined the Indian cricket team as the head coach, there is a visible trend of Indian batters rolling their arm over in domestic and international cricket. Shreyas Iyer, who knows Gautam Gambhir all too well after he captained Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title in his mentorship, bowled an over in the Buchi Babu invitational tournament.
The bowling action of Shreyas Iyer looked quite similar to West Indies player Sunil Narine in terms of hiding the ball behind his back in the run-up before delivering it side on. He only bowled one over in his short spell, conceding seven runs without picking up a wicket for Mumbai against TNCA XI.
Notably, in the ongoing Buchi Babu invitational tournament, Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, who was playing for Jharkhand against Hyderabad, took to bowling in a big surprise. His wicket-keeping compatriot Rishabh Pant also bowled a delivery in the first game of the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
