On Friday, September 6, Indian international Shubman Gill was left shocked after Navdeep Saini knocked his stumps over during a Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After bundling out India B in their first innings in the second session on day two, the opening batters of India A stitched together a 57-run stand before Navdeep Saini dismissed Shubman Gill for 25 off 43, while trying to leave the ball, only for it to crash into his off stump.
Earlier, in the first innings of India B, Musheer Khan was the star of the show, scoring more than half the runs out of 321 for his team. He got 181 off 373, an innings which included 16 fours and five maximums, stitching together a key partnership of 205 runs of the eighth wicket with Navdeep Saini, who scored a fifty, to ensure that India B put up an impressive first inning total on the board.
Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal put together a 57-run opening stand for India A against India B in Duleep Trophy
In response, Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal, the India A openers started the innings well for their team, getting up to a fifty-run stand. But shortly after, when Shubman Gill tried to leave the ball from Navdeep Saini on line, it tailed back in before flooring his off stump, which led to the bamboozled response from the Indian international, staring down at the pitch in literal disbelief at what had just transpired.
The next over saw Navdeep Saini strangle Mayank Agarwal down the leg side for a tame dismissal after Rishabh Pant took a smart catch to his left. The right-handed batter had scored 36 off 45 with eight fours at the time, looking quite good to make it a big innings for India A, which would have helped them eat into the first innings total of India B.
