Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri completes a stunning hat trick against arch-rivals Pakistan in the SAFF Championship 2023. Playing at the Kanteerva Stadium in Bengaluru, The Blue Tigers got off to a blistering start thanks to Chhetri who managed to capitalize on Pakistan's defensive mistake to give India a 1-0 lead in 10 minutes.
Then six minutes later, Anirudh Thapa took a shot from the left-hand corner of the box, which went on to hit a Pakistan defender which gave the Blue Tigers a crucial penalty. Stepping up to the spot, Chhetri perfectly slotted the ball to take the score 2-0.
Then in the second half at the 73rd-minute mark, Chhetri was taken down as he makes a charge into the box by Mohammad Sufyan giving India their second penalty of the match. Here, the Indian captain once again sealed the deal to complete a brilliant hat trick.

Minutes after Chhetri's hat trick, the Blue Tigers scored their fourth goal on the back of Udanta Singh's stunning finish and register a massive 4-0 victory. Reacting to this performance, Sunil Chhetri said, “Happy to keep a clean sheet, happy to start the tournament. Matches in these kinds of conditions are never easy Happy people turned up, this is amazing, this is what we play for.”
