The IPL 2023 is just round the corner and with days nearing all ten IPL franchises have started their practices in full swing. While some teams will aim to replicate their performances from the last edition, a few will aim to bring back their match-winning performances aiming to lift the title in the 16 t h edition.
But ahead of the start of the tournament, former India and CSK cricketer Suresh Raina has made some shocking picks for the Chennai-based franchise. In a video shared by one of the sponsors of the IPL 2023 Jio Cinema, Raina has picked MS Dhoni’s successor in the yellow attire. The middle-order batter has named CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad to takeover the reigns of CSK captain after the legend. Gaikwad has been consistent with the bat after a rough start in the year 2020.
In the Q&A session with Jio Cinema, Raina said, “Abhi Mahi bhai hain, I really want Ruturaj Gaikwad to nurture around him. I think, Mahi bhai has a good brain. Definitely, he is around the boys. So yeah, I would say, hopefully, Ruturaj Gaikwad.” Praising Gaikwad, Raina also added, “He has done really well this season and I want him to do well for the country as well as Chennai Super Kings.”

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will start their IPL 2023 campaign against defending champions Gujarat Giants on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Notably, they finished at the nineth place in IPL 2022 and had some hiccups after Ravindra Jadeja took over the captaincy ahead of the start of the 15th edition.
