In the battle of the heavyweights, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to host Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, March 23. Ahead of the match, during a press conference, when Suryakumar Yadav, the stand-in MI captain, was posed with a query about handling CSK’s “uncapped player” MS Dhoni, to which he hilariously laughed at.

Notably, ahead of the IPL 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reinstated the “uncapped player” rule, wherein they classified players who haven’t been a part of international cricket for five years or more as uncapped. With that, MS Dhoni, who had played his last match for the Indian cricket team during the ODI World Cup 2019, became an “uncapped player.”

While speaking to the press in the build-up to MI’s clash against CSK, wherein he will captain the side in the absence of Hardik Pandya due to a one-match ban, Suryakumar Yadav was questioned about the plans to keep uncapped MS Dhoni quiet. At first, the Indian international wasn’t able to figure out what the journalist had asked of him, but eventually when he did, he quipped, “Has anyone ever been able to control Dhoni in so many years?" before laughing his heart out.

Following that, Suryakumar Yadav went into detail about what it means for him to share the field with MS Dhoni. He remarked, “It's always an excitement when you come to Chennai and watch him come out of the dressing room, it's always a good thing. You learnt so many good things from him, and we still do whenever we get an opportunity we have a chat with him. I'm excited to see him again, but I will be leading against him so it will be a good challenge.”

The video ended with Suryakumar Yadav saying “uncapped player” in a bemused tone before laughing hilariously once again.
