After taking India to a 3-0 series win in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka, Team India T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav was seen making a visit to the Yankee Stadium in New York. The Indian skipper, who took over the helm in the shortest format after Rohit Sharma retired from the T20Is after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win in the West Indies.

The 33-year-old who played a key role in India’s 3-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka in Pallekele, took his time off and visited the Yankees Stadium where he was honoured by Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees. The club, which is known for its rich history, welcomed the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 winner, was also presented a custom-made Yankees pinstripe jersey with his jersey number 63 and Surya written on the back.

The Suryakumar Yadav’s visit highlights his growing international profile and the cross-sport camaraderie between cricket and baseball. He was awestruck on the opportunity to explore the iconic venue. 

The Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India will next take on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in October 2024. While the first T20I will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, the second will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi followed by the final T20I in Hyderabad on October 12.
