On Friday, March 22, the Rajasthan Royals signed Tanush Kotian as Adam Zampa's replacement, just a couple of days prior to their IPL 2024 opener against Lucknow Super Giants. In a video shared by the Rajasthan Royals to announce the new signing, Tanush Kotian was spotted having an emotional call with his father and the rest of the family members.
Notably, Adam Zampa, who was retained by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2024, pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons. It is important to note that the leg spinner had a long season in the build-up to the IPL 2024, playing the ODI World Cup at the end of last year, followed by limited overs series against India, West Indies, and New Zealand.
To announce Tanush Kotian as the replacement for Adam Zampa, Rajasthan Royals shared the video of him on their official X account, wherein he spoke to his father and other family members, thanking them on call. The proud dad also asked his son to share his picture in the Rajasthan Royals jersey, to which he responded, “Yes, sure.”
As per the report from ESPNcricinfo, Tanush Kotian, who was closing in on an IPL call-up last season, didn’t get picked by the teams after he was named in the BCCI’s list of Suspect Bowling action. But, on the back of exceptional performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Ranji Trophy for his state team in the 2023-24 season, he is finally picked up by an IPL team, in the 2024 season.
With the inclusion of Tanush Kotian, Rajasthan Royals will be going into the IPL 2024 season with only seven overseas players in their squad.
