The inaugural champions of the T20 World Cup, Team India are taking on their near neighbours, Bangladesh in the Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards National Cricket Stadium in Antigua. While the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue are unbeaten in the tournament, Bangladesh have registered two losses so far, with their last coming in their previous Super 8 clash against Australia.
As the two teams took the field, it was Najmul Hossain Shanto who won the toss and elected to field first in Antigua. Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Virat Kohli took the guards. The openers gave a brilliant start for Team India but it was the skipper, who departed adding only 23 runs off 11 deliveries. His compatriot, Virat Kohli was also sent back shortly afterwards.
In the ninth over of the Indian inning, Tanzim Hasan Sakib was re-introduced into the attack. On the very first delivery of the over, Tanzim cleaned up the big fish in Virat Kohli, who was looking good with the bat. The Indian batter was duped by the length and lacked the pace, with the ball eventually curling up and hitting the middle. Soon after the dismissal, Tanzim came into the face of Kohli to give an extended death stare, video of which is going viral.
