After making his first appearance for Team India against the West Indies in the first T20I at Tarouba, Trinidad, Tilak Varma, the left-handed middle order batter had a special message in store on August 3, Thursday. It was sent by his fellow teammate from Mumbai Indians and South African cricketer Dewald Brevis, who congratulated his friend on his highly successful international debut.
Tilak Varma, who walked in at number four in the batting lineup for India, put together an enterprising innings of 39 runs off 22 balls, filled with great stroke play all around the Brian Lara Stadium. He came out to bat for the visitors when they were in a spot of bother, while chasing a 150-run target on a tough pitch.

The 20-year-old played his first delivery in international cricket as a dot ball off Obed McCoy. But, during the next over from Alzarri Joseph, he teared into the West Indies fast bowler, depositing him over deep square leg for a maximum, before doing the same again, on the next ball.
Although the power-packed innings from Tilak Varma wasn’t enough for Team India to win the match, losing it by 4 runs, he received a special message from his MI teammate for the last two seasons. BCCI shared the video of the same on their Twitter account.

Dewald Brevis was quoted as saying, “Hey brother, I hope you are very excited. I don't know If I am more excited than you, but I just want to say from my side and from the Brevis family, congratulations on your debut. It's such a great moment for you and your family. I can just imagine how happy your parents and everyone must be. It's great to see you out there, living your dream out.”
“Those shots on the second and third ball gave me goosebumps. You always have my support and all the best for rest of the series. I'm backing you fully and go win every game for Team India. Cheers brother,” the 20-year-old further added.
Hearing from his friend, Tilak Varma was quite emotional, and he sent out a message of his own to Dewald Brevis, saying, “I was thinking about it could be my coach, my family, but it was Dewald Brevis, my brother. Thank you so much my brother. I always love you. I really appreciate your message. See you soon, and thank you so much.”
