In the second match of double-header Sunday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Delhi Capitals (DC) are hosting five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on April 13. While both teams will be eying to win the clash with a complete change in the venue, there was something horrific during the first innings that grabbed the eyeballs.

After being invited to bat first, MI lost former skipper Rohit Sharma early off Vipraj Nigam’s delivery. However, Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav looked good, adding crucial runs at the top of the order. Apart from them, Tilak Varma also chipped in key runs, playing a 33-ball 59, Naman Dhir played a 17-ball 38 to help MI post 205 runs on the board.

Mukesh Kumar and Ashutosh Sharma suffer collision; give life to Tilak Varma

As the innings progressed, with MI looking to cross the 200-run mark, on the second delivery of the 19th over, Mohit Sharma bowled a slower outside off. Tilak Varma, who was on strike, sliced it off towards the short third man. With Ashutosh Sharma and Mukesh Kumar coming from either side to attempt for a catch, mistimed it and collided.

However, DC not only let the ball go, giving a sigh of relief to Tilak Varma, the two DC fielders were seen struggling with injuries after a horrific collision. The duo was quick to leave the field as the physio attended them, hoping for not a serious injury.

However, the match resumed quickly, MI posted 205 runs on the board at the lossfive wickets in 20 overs. With 205 on board, it proved to be the lowest first inning score in six games in Delhi since IPL 2024.
