On Monday, December 30, India suffered a batting collapse during their 340-run chase at the Melbourne Cricket Board (MCG) in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. After losing three wickets in quick succession, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant held the momentum forcing Australia to go wicketless in the second session of the fifth day.
But soon on their return to action after Tea on the final day, India lost wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant with Mitchell Marsh completing a brilliant catch at wide long-on off Travis Head’s delivery. This came at a crucial juncture, breaking the momentum after which none of the batters could stitch a decent partnership and help the side cross the line.

The moment unfolded on the fourth delivery of the 59th over, which was bowled by Travis Head. Pant tried to pull it, but failed to get a good placement as Marsh completed an easy catch. After getting a crucial breakthrough, Head brought in a all-new celebration with his hands, leaving fans confused. Head pointed one finger into his other hand, which was shaped like a circle, video of which have been circulating online.

James Brayshaw explains Travis Head’s celebration
The gesture from Travis Head soon after dismissing Pant left netizen questioning what does it mean. However, no one had an idea about the same until Channel 7’s James Brayshaw offered some clarity on it. "Now, great people in the back have said after he took 4-10 within 17 balls in Sri Lanka in 2022 he was quoted as saying, 'I had to put the digit on ice'," Brayshaw began. "So that was the celebration. He said 'I just got him and I'm putting it back on ice'," he further added.
Fellow commentator Greg Blewett expressed his admiration for the explanation, adding, "You have done some investigating, haven't you, JB. I had no idea what that was all about, good work," he said. "I would like to take credit, but I had nothing to do with it. I was handed it on a bit of paper. That was a good get from our team," Brayshaw replied.
