Australian star Travis Head announced himself in the Indian Premier League 2024 as he smashed Mumbai Indians debutant and U19 World Cup star Kwena Maphaka for 22 runs in an over. After a dream 2023 season, Travis Head was picked up for a handsome price of INR  6.80 crore by the Sunrisers Hyderabad but wasn't picked for the opening game of the season.

Then in the second game against the Mumbai Indians, Head got his debut for SRH and also received an early lifeline as fellow Aussie Tim David dropped the southpaw when he was batting at five. Then Travis Head took on Kwena Maphaka in the third over of the match.

After a couple of singles on the first two deliveries, Head started his onslaught by smashing a six over long-on before hitting another maximum over deep mid wicket. Then to finish off the over, the Aussie star hit two more boundaries to take the tally for the over to 22.  Then over the next few balls, Head went on to complete his half-century in just 18 balls.

Kwena Maphaka was signed by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Sri Lankan pacer  Dilshan Madushanka, who has been ruled out of IPL 2024 due to an injury. The  South African 17-year-old shot got into the limelight at the U19 World Cup earlier this year and was awarded the Player of the Tournament for picking 21 wickets.
