R ajasthan Royals’ Trent Boult dropped a sitter that would have caught out Faf du Plessis in their IPL 2024 clash. The Royals hosted Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 19th match of the cash-rich league on April 6, Saturday, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. While the hosts took on their rivals on the back of an unbeaten streak of three matches, Bengaluru took on the rival to break their two-defeat streak.

Batting first, Bengaluru held the grip of the match right from the beginning. Star batter Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis gave the side a favourable start to put their team on a dominating side. While the RCB maintained their pace throughout the innings, RR displayed a poor show while fielding. Not only did the bowlers give away many runs, but also the fielders missed several opportunities to dismiss their rivals.

On the fifth ball of the 14th over, Boult dropped an easy catch that would have caught out Faf du Plessis when the batter was on 44 runs. The drop left everyone, including the bowler, Yuzvendra Chahal, frustrated. However, Faf’s innings came to an end right on the next ball, when Jos Buttler took a catch, and he was forced to walk back on 44 runs off 33 deliveries.

Earlier during the toss, Faf said, “For me, it's just a case of trusting our guys. We have been inconsistent, we get an opportunity to do things better. We are trying to find the roles for the players, we are looking for that. That hasn't worked as yet. We haven't delivered. Not many people know him (Saurav Chauhan), he has some serious amount of skill and batting power, looks like a nice and calm guy.”
