Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates are locking horns in the 9th match of the first round of the T20 World Cup 2022. Sri Lanka posted a decent 152/8 on the board despite most of their batters getting dismissed in single digits. Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya de Sliva were the stars for Sri Lanka with the bat. Meanwhile, it were Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga with the ball for Sri Lanka as the two bowlers bagged three-wicket each.

While Chameera dismissed the top-order batters, Hasaranga sent the middle-order packing. Nevertheless, UAE batters had their share of fun in the middle. Junaid Siddique, in particular, enjoyed his massive six against Dushmantha Chameera. The lower-order batter smoked a 109-metres six against the premium pacer and then celebrated it by showing off his biceps.

On the second ball of the 17th over of the UAE innings, Siddique cleared his front leg and swung it high and over deep mid-wicket for a monstrous six. The ball landed on the roof of the stadium. Delighted by the distance his six covered, the batter then flexed his muscles.

Win for Sri Lanka!

Nevertheless, it was a win for Sri Lanka by 79 runs as they bundled UAE for a mere 73. While Chameera and Hasaranga bagged three wickets each, Maheesh Theekshana got two wickets. Meanwhile, Pramod Madushan and Dasun Shanaka bagged a wicket each. With this win, Sri Lanka have roared back in style after a shocking defeat to Namibia in their opening fixture. Now, the Dasun Shanaka-led team stand a chance to qualify for the Super 12s.
