The Men in Blue have begun their first match of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. After Kane Williamson-led New Zealand won the toss, they invited India to bat first in the first 50-over match of the series.

On the back of brilliant half-centuries from the Indian openers in skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill, the side posted 210/4 at the 40-over mark. Although both openers departed after scoring 72 & 50 respectively, it was Sanju Samson & Shreyas Iyer who continued to do their bit for the side after a poor knock from wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav.

While it was a sigh of relief for the fans as both Sanju Samson & Umran Malik were named in the XI for the series opener. But above all, an incident which caught a lot of attention before the start of the match was the debut cap distribution for Arshdeep Singh & Umran Malik.

While Arshdeep received his cap from skipper Dhawan, Umran Malik was handed his cap by Bahutule. The 23-year-old who seemed a little nervous while collecting his cap, overlooked the presence of the cameraperson. While he walked out of the huddle to collect his cap, he was saved by his teammates for nearly missing a collision.

“Are camera idhar hai (The camera is there)”, the teammates from the Indian huddle shouted.
