England and Australia are locking horns in the much-known international rivalry in cricket as the Ashes series kick started on June 16 at the Edgbaston. While the Day 1 of the Ashes 2023 saw England declare at the score of 393 after opting to bat first, Day 2 saw Australia build-up to the target as they now stand, trailing by just 82 runs at Stumps on Day 2.
The second day of the opening Test also saw Australia opener Usman Khawaja hit his first Test century in England. The 36-year-old, who reached his century off 199 deliveries, celebrated his first in England in an extensive manner. The Aussie opener threw his bat in air with all sorts of emotions riding on his face. Video of the same is also going viral.

Khawaja also became the second Australia opener to score a Test hundred at Edgbaston after Mark Taylor’s 129 in 1997. The stalwart also tops the list of most Test hundreds since 2022, which is joint most with Joe Root (7).
Usman Khawaja is coming after a brilliant spell for Australia as he finished as the leading run-getter for the Baggy Greens in the 2021-23 WTC Final cycle. The 36-year-old at the end of Day 2 remains unbeaten at 126 off 279 balls. During his stay in the middle, he has smashed 14 fours and two sixes.
