The frontrunners for the NBA Rookie of the Year had quite a battle on the night against each other, but at the end of the night, it was Holmgren’s Thunder who got the better of Wembanyama’s Spurs in a one-sided contest. Chet Holmgren got 17 points with nine rebounds and four assists, while Victor Wembanyama collected 24 points with 12 rebounds and four assists.
Notably, Wemby and Chet are set to compete against each other on February 29 before going head-to-head on April 10 during the regular season of the NBA. Chet Holmgren appreciates Victor Wembanyama for his performance
During the post-game interview, Chet Holmgren was very appreciative of the performance of his counterpart Victor Wembanayama after the Thunder comfortably defeated the Spurs. He hailed him as a “great player” in the early stages of his career. However, he also threw light on the bigger picture, which was to win the game for his team.
“All credit to Vic. Obviously, a great player, very, very talented, even at an early stage in his career. But I can’t let that matchup take away from what the job was tonight and that was trying to win a basketball game. Thunder versus Spurs,” said Chet Holmgren.
