Defending champions Real Madrid have ran riots at the Anfield on Tuesday night as they thrashed Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool 2-5 in their first leg of the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 Round of 16 tie. Vinicius Jr scored two goals and brutally trolled Liverpool fans by imitating his idol Cristiano Ronaldo's 'peace of mind' celebration.

Liverpool scored two quick goals in the first 15 minutes, thanks to Darwin Nunez and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who made a critical mistake in the box and gifted an easy goal to Mohamed Salah. However, Los Blancos star winger Vinicius Jr. responded strongly with his 21st minute strike and then forced his Brazil teammate Allison Becker to commit a grave error.
Becker tried to pass the ball to the defender on his right, but ended up hitting slow-running Vinicius' feet and the ball deflected towards the goal. After scoring the equaliser at the Anfield, the 22-year-old Brazilian hit the Cristiano Ronaldo celebration to mock the Liverpool fans.

Vinicius helped Real Madrid to level the score 2-2 at the end of the half-time, but the defending champions took the lead in the starting two minutes of the second half as Eder Militao scored his first goal in the UCL. Eight minutes later, Benzema doubled the lead for Los Blancos and in the 67th minute ended the Reds' hope to claim the victory at their home in the Champions League Round of 16 tie.
Liverpool will now travel to the Santiago Bernabeu on March 15 to face Real Madrid in the second-led of the UCL Round of 16 fixture.
