Indian batting legend Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma, were seen taking a stroll on the streets of Melbourne on Christmas. The couple, known for keeping their personal life away from the limelight, chose to step out for a romantic date a day before the beginning of the Boxing Day Test. Notably, after the conclusion of a drawn Gabba Test, both sides came against each other for the highly-anticipated Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. A day before the match, the celebrated couple stepped out and had a low key Christmas celebration.
In a video doing rounds on social media, the couple was seen taking a casual stroll in the lanes of Melbourne. Not only this, but they also visited a cafe in the Australian city. The cafe expressed their gratitude to the couple and posted pictures of them on social media, revealing how they were uncertain of opening the cafe on a public holiday, but were pleasantly surprised to see Kohli and Anushka walking in. Notably, Anushka has accompanied her husband on the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Tour to the land Down Under.
Suspend Virat Kohli if he misbehaves again: Monty Panesar on Indian batter’s controversy with Sam Konstas
While the cricketer decided to have a low-key Christmas celebration with wife Anushka, he found himself in the middle of a controversy during the opening day of the Boxing Day Test. During the game, Kohli was seen misbehaving with Australian debutant Sam Konstas. Kohli was seen engaging in an altercation with the rival batter, which also involved physical contact. The incident led to boos and schooling from fans and former cricketers. Former England cricketer Monty Panesar also shared his opinion and said that if Kohli misbehaves again, he should be suspended.
Panesar was quoted by Times of India as saying, “He's a 19-year-old kid! It was unnecessary for him (Kohli) to do it. A lot of people obviously know the answer to that, but then I suppose that's the nature he plays his cricket. He is aggressive, he's intense. If he doesn't like how the other team approaches, when they throw a punch back, that's his way to react.”
He added, “But he (Konstas) didn't care less. He thought 'I am going to keep going with it'... If you go after the top bowlers, they don't like it, and it was good to see the youngster choosing to stand up against a player of the stature of Virat Kohli."
