On Sunday, November 24, former India captain and star batting stalwart Virat Kohli finally ended his century drought after he hit a crucial unbeaten 100 off 143 deliveries at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The 36-year-old who was long waiting for this day, smashed Marnus Labuschagne for a boundary to get to his 81st hundred.

The moment came on the third delivery of the 134th over which was being bowled by Marnus Labuschagne. With the Indian batters, Virat Kohli and Nitish Kumar Reddy going all out in the final session of the day, Kohli swept the ball full towards the fine, resulting in a boundary and Kohli getting to his 30th Test ton.

The 36-year-old, who was waiting for this moment, stood still as the umpire waited to signal for a boundary. But as soon as the on-field umpire signalled for a boundary, Kohli took a moment to celebrate this feat as he took off his helmet and blew a kiss towards his wife, Anushka Sharma, who has been watching him play in Perth.

Kohli’s Test hundred came after a 16 innings drought, whereas it was also his second Test century at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Speaking after his special knock, Kohli credited his wife, claiming that she has been around him through thick and thin.“Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes. Knows what goes on in the head when you're not performing well,” Virat Kohli said after India declared their second innings on Sunday.

“I'm not a guy who hangs around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for the country,” he added. Speaking of the match, India declared their second innings, putting up 534-run target for the Aussies to win the first Test.
