Team India defeated Sri Lanka by a massive 373 runs in the third ODI on Sunday and clinched the three-match series 3-0. It was the biggest win for any team in ODI cricket and India had many people to thank for this record-breaking win. Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Siraj were the three notable names who helped India script a massive win over the Lankans. Captain Rohit Sharma also did a terrific job while defending the total.

He rotated his bowlers brilliantly and set perfect field. The first wicket India produced was due to the captaincy brilliance of Sharma as he stationed a fielder between slips and gully and the ball went straight into the hands of the fielder. While India had already its game in the hand, Rohit gave an opportunity to Shreyas Iyer, as well to bowl.

Much to everyone’s surprise Iyer was right on the money from the very first ball as he extracted an unbelievable turn from the pitch. It was the 18th over of the match that Iyer came to bowl, and he bowled an off-break which straightaway found the spin. Not just Lankan batter Lahiru Kumara was taken aback, but even Virat Kohli who was stationed at slip was left awestruck with such a turn.

Shreyas could not do much with the bat in the series as he could only make small contributions - 28, 28 and 38. However, Virat Kohli was the star of the series as he started the year with a bang. He scored a brilliant 113 in the first game and concluded the series with a better score of an unbeaten 166. The 34-year-old was also adjudged Player of the Series for his spectacular run in the three-match ODI series.
