Virat Kohli gave India the perfect gift on his 35th Birthday as he scored his 49th ODI century against South Africa in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Batting first, the Men in Blue got off to a stellar start as Rohit Sharma lit up the Eden Gardens with some incredible stroke play. But as the Indian captain departed and Shubman Gill followed suit, Kohli steadied the innings.

Batting with Shreyas Iyer, the duo posted a massive 134-run stand. But with few quick wickets, Kohli held one end up and continued scoring runs fluently. As Virat neared his historic milestone, it was the 49th over where the Indian number three drove Kagiso Rabada through the covers and completed his century.

It took Virat Kohli 118 balls as he smashed 10 fours and completed his 79th international ton. Commemorating this milestone, Kohli had a subdued celebration as he out-stretched his arms in the air and appreciated the crowd for their support.
