The thrilling IPL 2024 clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Chennai Super Kings at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium saw a controversial moment around the dismissal of RCB captain Faf du Plessis which led to Virat Kohli losing his cool. This clash is extremely crucial for the IPL 2024 playoff race as the winner will most likely take the fourth spot on the table.
The incident occurred on the last delivery of the 13th over when Faf was at the non-striker's end and Patidar smashed the ball down the ground. In an attempt to stop the ball, Mitchell Santer put his hand before it went on to hit the stumps.

The decision then went to the 3rd umpire where Faf was deemed out. It was shown that the South African international failed to ground his bat in time and the ball ricocheted off Santer's hand and hit the stumps. The RCB captain was unhappy as he walked back while Virat Kohli, sitting in the dressing room, was spotted flailing his arms in anger.

Ahead of the game, RCB star Dinesh Karthik opened up about the team's incredible five-game winning which kept them alive in the playoff race after a dismal start. Speaking in the pre-game interview, DK said, "The way we (RCB) have played in the last five games is pretty symbolic of what RCB is capable of. Playing some good cricket, big names, playing some high octane cricket, great to be a part of it."
"I will remember this journey for a long time. Every year there's going to be a team at the halfway stage almost where we were. I am wishing that we take one step forward. I think it's RCB's turn to do something special," he said.
