Indian opening batter KL Rahul has n't  been at his best in the 2022 T20 World Cup so far and has consequently attracted a lot of criticism. In three games so far, Rahul has managed to score only 22 runs in 34 balls and has hit one boundary and one six in the tournament. But before the Bangladesh game in Adelaide, the former India captain was seen helping out the Karnatak player in the nets

Kohli was seen having a long conversation with Rahul where batting coach Vikram Rathour and mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton also joined in. It was a 20-minute long discussion before Rahul started batting with Kohli and Rathour, who was the throw-down specialist for the session.

Talking about the criticism received by KL Rahul, former India player Sunil Gavaskar was one of the strongest voices calling out the player for his poor run of form. Gavaskar was talking to Aaj Tak when he went ahead and blamed India’s mental health conditioning coach Paddy Upton for his work with KL Rahul before and during the World Cup. He believes that Upton is “not doing anything with Rahul”.

He further addressed how Rahul has the talent but isn’t been able to get out of this quicksand of bad form during the World Cup. Gavaskar said, “I believe mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton has not done anything with Rahul. While the batting coach can tell him his mistakes, there is a need for the mental conditioning coach to talk with Rahul. He should tell Rahul that he has got the talent and he can score big runs,” said Gavaskar.
