After getting bundled out at the score of 185 on day one of the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday, Indian bowlers bounced back in style, restricting the hosts to 181 in 51 overs by Tea on Day 2. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Kumar Reddy got two wickets each to their name.

Coming out to bat again on Day 2 of the Sydney Test, the Indian top order fell once again with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul getting bowled out off Scott Boland’s delivery. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli also could not get runs on the board before Rishabh Pant showed some positive hope with his 61 off 33 deliveries. Among all these wickets, the most disappointing one came in Virat Kohli, who fell to a similar trap like his previous wickets in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.

Virat Kohli punches himself in frustration after falling in similar trap in SCG Test

Coming out to bat when the Indian scorecard read 47/2, Virat Kohli could only stay for 12 balls as he was dismissed in a similar fashion. The 36-year-old got out to a delivery outside off stump on Saturday, edging it straight to slips with Steve Smith completing a catch. With this wicket, Kohli continued his disappointing series of dismissal, getting out to deliveries outside off-stump in seven out of eight times.

Soon afterwards, he was seen punching himself in frustration getting into the trap once again. The 36-year-old also spoke a few words as he continued his dismal performance in the BGT 2024-25 down under.

Speaking of the ongoing fifth BGT Test in Sydney, India ended the second day after taking a lead of 145 runs. While Rishabh Pant showed positive signs with his 61 off 33 deliveries, Ravindra Jadeja (8 off 39) and Washington Sundar (6 off 17) helped them steady the innings as they went on to put some runs on the board. Scott Boland was the star performer for the hosts, picking four wickets in his 13-over spell on Day 2.
