On Saturday, November 23, India came back into the game with a dominant performance with the ball as well as with the bat, posting 172 runs on the board at Stumps on Day 2 of the first Test in Perth. While stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, picking up his 11th five-wicket haul, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul stood up with the bat, stitching crucial partnership at the top of the order.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal stayed unbeaten at 90 off 193 deliveries, KL Rahul also scored a crucial 62 off 153 deliveries to extend India’s lead to 218 runs at Stumps on day two of the opening Test. As the new opening pair amended their first innings mistakes and put up a show at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Saturday, former India skipper and batting stalwart Virat Kohli also could not stay behind and applauded the duo.

At the completion of the day two at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Virat Kohli, who was all padded up for his turn was quick to step on the field for some knocking practice as the umpires called stumps. Meanwhile he took the field briskly, he took a moment to appreciate the Indian batters, a gesture which has been making rounds on social media.

Speaking of the game, Jaiswal, who is just ten runs short of a Test hundred, played defensive as well as showed his intent with the bat. At Stumps on Day 2, India have taken a lead of 218 runs with Jaiswal (90 off 193) and KL Rahul (62 off 153) in the middle.
