England all-rounder Will Jacks is taking the inaugural edition of the South African T20 League, SA20, by storm. Representing the Pretoria Capitals, Jacks has amassed close to 300 runs in just seven games and that too at a strike rate of 200+. The batter’s best inning in the tournament so far came against MI Cape Town on Monday. Jacks smashed a 19-ball fifty and looked in complete control against the likes of Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Kagiso Rabada, and Sam Curran.
During his inning of 62, Jacks hit five fours and as many sixes and one of the six was almost like Virat Kohli’s famous six against Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf. Jacks nailed a lofted shot straight down the ground against Jofra Archer and sent cricket fans down memory lane.
On the fifth ball of PC innings, Archer bowled an into-the-pitch delivery outside the off-stump. Will Jacks stood tall and waited for the ball to come into his arc. The batter then lofted the ball with all his might straight over the bowler’s head for a maximum. It was almost similar to Kohli’s shot against Pakistan pacer Rauf during a T20 WC 2022 match last year. The commentators were also in awe of the shot, calling it ‘shot of the week’.

Coming to the match, Pretoria Capitals put on another neat performance as they beat the Rashid Khan-led MI Cape Town by 52 runs. The Capitals put on 182/8 on the back of Jacks’ 62, contributions from Kusal Mendis (29 off 19), Theunis de Bruyn (36 off 26), and Jimmy Neesham (22 off 18).
The Wayne Parnell-led team then bundled MI for 130 with Parnell and Anrich Nortje bagging three wickets each and Adil Rashid scalping two wickets. This was Capitals’ fifth win in seven games.
