Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane received a thunderous ovation during his return to Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid Legends clashed against Porto Vintage at the Santiago Bernabeu for the 11th edition of the Real Madrid Foundation charity matches on March 23. The match saw fans once again enjoying players who have been a part of Real Madrid’s glorious history over the years. 

On Madrid’s side, Iker Casillas, Granero, Raúl Bravo, and Luis Milla joined legends like Zidane, Raul, Butragueno, Roberto Carlos, and Figo. Zidane, who hung up his boots in 2010 from professional football continued to play for Real Madrid Veterans team and later served as the coach of the side for some years. During the game on March 23, the 51-year-old received a warm welcome from the fans, with thunderous applause. 


Zidane and Raul put vintage best on display

Real Madrid legends Zinedine Zidane and Raul put their vintage best on display in the game. Zidane and Raul were teammates at Real Madrid from 2001 to 2006. Raul retired from football in 2015 after making debut for Real Madrid in 1994. Later, he recorded 323 goals for Madrid during his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu. 

Coming back to the match, the Corazon Classic Match is now known as one of the most moving football events. The friendly match has brought football legends for a cause since its inauguration in 2010. The income generated in its 2024 edition will be used to fight against amyotrophic lateral serious (ALS) as well as to support the socio-sports projects of the Real Madrid Foundation.
